The Indian DTH market has reached unprecedented heights in a short span of time. Recently, Reliance, Airtel and Sun have penetrated into the DTH market. The DTH market in India stands at roughly seven million subscribers which is less than 10% of the 85 million cable TV subscribers in the country. Industry analysts have predicted DTH to touch 25 million subscribers by 2012.The services offered by all the new major entrants are unmatched picture clarity, movies on demand and a host of other interactive services. The motto of every new entrant is to emerge as the leading player in the DTH market. Videocon is all expected to launch full-fledged DTH services by early 2009.As of now Dish TV leads with the largest number of subscribers followed by Tata Sky and Sun direct. Apart from the picture quality pricing is the main criterion on which consumer’s choice will depend on. So the new entrants will have to be cautious in providing a wide range of tariff plans to attract customers.

Creative Labs has been quite popular for producing top notch speakers at an affordable price and with excellent sound quality. The best selling PC speakers segment is the Gigaworks T40, which consists of a pair of 12.5-inch tall desktop speakers. When you have a first look at the speakers you might probably presume that the speakers are very small but in reality these speakers are as tall as your monitor. During tests the speakers produced minimal distortion, even beyond 90 per cent volume, and music retained its clarity and balance at high levels. Bass is very impressive. The lack of a dedicated subwoofer means that the speakers don’t quite have the power to do justice to the very lowest frequencies at high volumes, but otherwise they handle low notes excellently. The speakers are equipped with a built-in amplifier that is capable of delivering 14 watts per channel. Gigaworks T40 is an impressive set of speakers which offers value for money, good sound clarity and most importantly at an affordable price. It retails for less than 150$ and is considered a decent bet for those looking for the best PC speakers available in the market.

Many gamers would have been contemplating whether to go for Sony PSP or Nintendo DS. This was a burning topic some time back and a lot of forums had a different take on this issue. Some say Sony PSP is the best while some prefer Nintendo DS. Seriously, if you were to buy a portable gaming console which one would to go for? It depends on what kind of a gamer you are. If processing power and graphics is taken into consideration nothing can beat Sony PSP till date. Traditionally the Nintendo DS has been viewed as a young-persons’ choice. A rather inexperienced and a casual gamer would usually prefer Nintendo DS while the game freaks and serious gamers would love to have a Sony PSP. The PSP’s screen is no-doubt an attractive thing, though the Nintendo DS flaunts two of them, one of them being a touch screen. Sony PSP plays audio, video and supports web browsing and so it functions like a multi functional device whereas the Nintendo DS is designed only for gaming. When it comes to battery life the Nintendo DS is the clear winner. The Nintendo DS uses Game Cards that are capable of storing up to 128MB of data while PSP uses UMD discs that is capable of holding up to 1.8GB of data. And as for the pricing issue, Sony PSP sells at around 170$ while the Nintendo DS is priced at 130$. The final assessment remains still unclear as both are equally good in one or more aspects. I would suggest Nintendo DS for beginners and casual gamers and Sony PSP for serious hardcore gamers.
