You don’t have to think twice before taking up this exam anymore. A lot of students were confused as to what exam they had to take up for pursuing higher studies abroad. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is gaining international acceptance at a rampant phase. Initially this test was accepted by universities in Australia, United Kingdom and a very few universities in the United States. But now more than 1,700 universities and colleges in the US (including Harvard and Yale) accept IELTS scores. TOEFL still continues to exist in selected universities although many universities have decided to adopt IELTS.IELTS is offered in over 500 locations in 121 countries with the greatest number of tests taken in China, India, Australia, United Kingdom and Pakistan, making IELTS the most popular international English language test in the world. IIM-C has been so liberal in its fee structure thus far. But this year it has altered its stance and decided to go for the much needed hike. Last year, when IIMs in Ahmedabad and Bangalore had increased their fees to Rs 11 lakh and Rs 9.5 lakh, IIM-C had decided to stick on its old fee structure. The decision was taken after a Board of Governors meeting at institute on Friday. “We are going by the fees review committee, but our institute has taken a final call on the hike,” said Dinesh Verma, Chief Administrative Officer, IIM-C.As per the new fee structure students will have to shell out Rs 9 lakh to pursue a two year course at the institute. The new students need to pay Rs 4 lakh for the first year and Rs 5 lakh for the second year for the Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management and Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer aided Management (PGDM & PGDCM) programme in this renowned institute. However the current batch needs to pay only as per the existing fee structure.
