Travel does not have to be a pain. Standing in long queues for security checks won’t get any easier with security concerns rising day by day but there are a few things you can do to make life easier and travel an enjoyable experience.
Check-in Online: If you are flying economy use the online check in offered by several airlines. An early online check in will ensure that you don’t get stuck with a crummy middle seat. Some airlines offer additional miles for checking in online.
Carry Noise-cancelling Headphones: These gadgets can make the noise from those gigantic General Electric or Rolls Royce engines on the wing just vanish.
Carry an IPod: Do you know how boring long international flights can get? While you have your laptop with you, the Ipod is terribly convenient device to have.
Be careful with your Credit Cards: Two parts of the world where you have to be extra cautious with your plastic card is South-east Asia (Bangkok and Jakarta in particular) and the United States. Scammers are always on the prowl trying to rip off your card, so just be a bit careful. Using cash in some countries makes better sense.
Loyalty Cards: Even though Loyalty cards have a bad habit of weighing down your wallet, they can be very useful to collect points if you want to go on your personal vacation and spend huge amounts of cash.
Use Trains: In many parts of the world, using high-speed trains is a lot more convenient than flying, though train tickets on certain sectors such as New York- Boston or London-Paris can be actually more expensive than flying. But remember trains don’t have long security queues. And since train stations are invariably in the middle of the town, it is much more convenient too.
Book Smartly: It is always better if you book your tickets yourself rather than relying on some tourist agent. It makes a lot of sense as you can end up saving a lot of bucks.

Many people suffer from jet lag when their regular schedule is abruptly altered. Contrary to popular perception it has nothing really to do with travelling in a jet plane. You can suffer jet lag if you work shifts that alternate between night and day. Here, you must keep in mind that it is the act of travelling across time zones rather than the fact of travelling on a jet plane that plays havoc with your bio-rhythms and causes jet lag. You can take some steps to combat jet lag a lot easier.
Adjust your sleep and meal cycles to that of your destination a few days before you travel.
Get lots of sleep before you travel to compensate for any sleep you will lose during travel.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine products during and after the trip.
Cut down your salt intake. Drink lots of water and juices.
Move around in the flight.
Don’t dress up for the flight, wear comfortable easy fitting clothes.
Try and time your flight in such a way that you arrive t your destination in daylight hours.
Whenever you arrive at your destination, start adjusting to the time zone promptly by changing your meal and sleep cycles.

You no longer have to stand in long queues to purchase a bus ticket. With the advent of online booking through the Internet you can easily book a bus ticket from anywhere. A lot of online travel sites have started offering customers the convenience to book tickets from anywhere with ease. I advise people not to use the online booking facility if the booking date is 3-4 days less than the date of journey as there is a very high possibility that you will end up paying up more than the actual cost of the ticket. So it is always better to plan your journey much in advance and make the best use of the online booking facility.
You can check out the sites listed below. These sites are the most widely used ones to book bus tickets online. If you know of any other prominent sites please let me know so that I can append it to this list. Hope you found this information relevant and useful.
